Loudias river

Loudias River is a natural border between the prefecture of Imathia and the prefecture of Thessalonica. In the water biotope formed by its waters 215 bird species have been recorded, 39 of which are seldom observed in the region, due to intense human activities. Amongst them, dalmatian pelican, slender-billed curlew, glossy ibis, white pelican and others.

In the western coasts of Thermaikos Gulf extends one of the most important water biotopes of Greece. Starting from Thessalonica and going westwards to the estuaries of Gallikos River, is the Lagoon of Kalohori.
